Rainbow Rays!

Happy last day of May everyone!  It's crazy how fast this year is going so far but I am bringing to you little rays of rainbows to brighten your day (even though it is a little rainy!).

I decided to try something a little bit different with my nails and I really love how they turned out.  I bought some nail art tape a few weeks ago and was disappointed to find that when I used them, they peeled up off of my tips, even with a top coat!  If you know how to do that so that doesn't happen, I would most appreciate it!  But anyways, I decided to use them in a different way so that they wouldn't be a huge waste of my money, although they were like $3 for 10 colors.  Great deal!

So first, I painted two coats of Spark from Orly.  Originally, I was going to do just one coat, but I realized that this color turns out a little streaky, even with two coats, so I definitely needed that second coat.  Next, I sponged on Shelby from Zoya which is a very light, bubblegum pink color from the Beach Collection.  I fell in love with this color, first because I don't really have a color close to this, and second, the finish is amazing.  Although you don't get the full effect of this color with the sponging and all the other colors surrounding it, you will see it soon because I have some great ideas for Drop Dead Diva nails for the premiere on Sunday!  I then sponged on Zoya's Wednesday also from the Beach Collection.  I chose these colors first because they looked great together, and second because I believe they compliment each other very nicely.  Zoya made a great collection, although I wish there was a great yellow with it.

Using the nail art tape, placed it the locations you see here.  I was really trying to think of how I could possibly do this design.  I was going to go with a random assortment of lines, but I decided, obviously, to go with something more refined.

Over the top, I used OPI's Alpine Snow then quickly ripped off the nail art tape and VOILA!  Rainbow Rays of beautifulness.  Enjoy!

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy late Memorial Day everyone!  I decided to do my nails for this special occasion, although, I did have some reservations.  I realized that this holiday is very much "stars and stripes" kind of thing and I didn't want to use up my awesome idea for the Fourth of July.  But, I think I came up with something pretty awesome and I got to use my new Spiderman Collection color!

So, for the base color, I used a very dark, metallic blue called Into the Night from the Spiderman Collection.  It goes on very light in one coat, but the second coat definitely brings it together.  I think it is my second favorite color in the collection (the first being Just Spotted the Lizard!).
I then topped off the base color with some different sized stars from my Cheeky plates in Designer Series Radiance.  They turned out not as opaque as I wanted them, so they are very subtle, but they still have the effect that I wanted.  On my forefingers, I used my red glitter stripers to make little "star rays" that shoot out from a silver star-shaped rhinestone.  I thought it brought it all together.
Now the thing I wasn't so happy about was the top coat.  You see, I have been using my Out the Door top coat for some time now, but it got kind of old and whenever I used it over my stamps, it smeared like crazy!  Guessing it is too thick and is dragging..oh well.  I used a Sally's brand of top coat which is great, but doesn't give the shine I love, so my nails aren't very shiny, but they are alright.  (I bought a new top coat today though!!!)

So this isn't my ordinary blog I guess you could say.. I am not going to be talking about nails (necessarily).  The past week I was in the BAHAMAS!! I went on a cruise with my best friend and we stopped in Nassau and Freeport.  It was beautiful, truly!  I have a couple pictures to show and then tomorrow I will definitely have some awesome Memorial Day nails for you.
Also (nail talk), I bought some nail polish from the Del Sol in Nassau called Ruby Slipper.  It is a beautiful light silver glitter that turns to a nice hot glittery pink in the sun.  I wore it when I went snorkeling and it was so cool!  Except without a top coat or base coat, it chipped like an hour later.  :/  Sad day.

Hello everyone!  I feel like I haven't been on here in forever.  But now I'm gonna share with you my latest designs.  First, I will show you what I did for Mother's Day!

My boss's mother was in town and loves to get her nails done every once in a while so as a Mother's Day gift, I did her nails!  I started with Elephantastic Pink as the base color.  On the feature nail, I used my silver glitter and a dotting tool to make a flower.  On the other nails, I used my stripers to make little swishes.  She absolutely loved them so I'm really happy with it!

My most recent design was inspired by a bed spread I saw somewhere.. It was white and black with hot pink trim so I said Hey!  That would be kind of cool to replicate on my nails.  I used my new color from the Spiderman Collection called My Boyfriend Scales Walls.  For some reason, I just absolutely love this color.  I think it's funny because I had it plain for a day, and I would go up to people and show them my nails, and they would say, That's just white!  NO!  It's a beautiful creamy grayish white.  It does look white if nothing is around, but when you put white up to it; not white.  Love it.

Next, I used my black Konad stamping polish to make the flowers.  Of course, because I'm obsessed, I used my new Cheeky plates.  Then, for the tips, I used Koala Berry which was a lot more sheer than I remembered.  So when you look at the picture, you can still see the design underneath which doesn't extremely bother me, but I would have been happier with you not being able to see that.

Finals Week Flowers

Hello everyone!  This week is finals week at school so I haven't really had a ton of time to spend on nails, but I did come up with something fun.  Using Zoya's Ali, which is a really bright pink color that has a rubbery/matte finish to it.  I was really happy with this color because of how smooth is goes on and the way it dries (even though I put a top coat on!)

For the design I used my new CHEEKY PLATES!  Oh my these are fantastic plates.  They are right up there with joke!  Very fine and detailed designs that go on very smoothly and there are no empty spots.

Before explaining this design, I must say I had a really cool design before these but I was so unhappy with the polish.  I recently got China Glaze's Refresh-Mint which is kind of like OPI's Gargantuan Green Grape but the formula is horrible.  It bubbled like nobody's business.  Maybe it's old?  I don't know but my nails were buffed so it wasn't my nails' fault.

Okay, back to the design.  So I used CH-16 that has little tiny flower designs.  I cannot believe how much I love these plates.  Not only did I get the set of 26 plates, but I also got two big plates (A and E).  AWESOME!  On my forefingers, I used some Luxe and Lush from the Hunger Games Collection by China Glaze.  Hope you like them!

Real Flowers

For my birthday, my best friend, Tawny, bought me some really awesome things for my nails!  First, there was a rather large set of stringy, bright glitters which are amazing.  I can't wait to try those out next.  The other fantastic substance she got me for my nails were REAL dried flowers.  I don't think I've ever seen this done before I got these, so I was really amazing with them.

The first color I tried was with a red flower that had lots of little tiny branches on it.. kind of looks like cherry blossoms.  I love them!! First, I used Barre My Soul from The New York City Ballet Collection as the base color.  It's a very light, light, light pink that kind of matches the color of my nail; just makes it all one color.  Again, this color is a jelly color so it kind of looks a little squishy.

To add a little flair, I used No Autographs, Please for my tips.  It's a nice light, shimmery, red that matched the flowers perfectly.  After that was dry, I used a tweezers to place the flowers on delicately because they are kind of flimsy; they fall apart easily.  I used top coat to seal them in.  I hope you like them! :)
